The Waikato swimmer Matthew Stanley has finished sixth in the final of the men's 200 metres fresstyle at the World Short Course Championships in Turkey.
The 20-year-old set a personal best time in recording the fourth fastest time in the heats, but he was unable to repeat that performance in the final.
He finished more than two and a half seconds behind the winner, double Olympic gold medallist and world champion, Ryan Lochte of the United States.
