The New Zealand Breakers have won their final home game of the year in the Australian basketball league, thrashing the Cairns Taipans 97-76 at Vector Arena in Auckland.

The Breakers point guard Cedric Jackson had another big game with a career-high 32 points, and helped the home side take control in the second quarter.

They led 51-37 at half-time when Jackson was already into double figures and the American sat out the final minutes with the game in the bag. Jackson finished with eight assists and five rebounds as well as three steals.

Alex Pledger scored 13 points while the veteran Dillon Boucher got into double figures for the first time in three seasons in his 200th game for the club with 10.

The Breakers now go on a tough four-game road trip over the holiday period.
