Struggling Peterborough have shocked the English football Championship leaders Cardiff with a 2-1 away victory.

Cardiff had won all 10 league matches at the Cardiff City Stadium this season, but Peterborough ended that perfect run with their first victory in nine matches.

The defeat trimmed Cardiff's lead at the top to two points after second placed Crystal Palace drew 2-2 at Birmingham.

Elsewhere the Socceroo Scott McDonald scored a stoppage-time goal to help Middlesbrough past Wolves 2-0, leaving them in third place, just one point behind Palace in the race for automatic promotion.

Hull consolidated their play-off position with a 2-0 victory over Huddersfield at the KC Stadium.

Millwall moved into the play-off places with a 1-0 win over promotion rivals Leicester at The Den.

Burnley drew 1-1 with Watford, Derby won 2-0 at struggling Bristol City, while Leeds defeated Ipswich 2-0 at Elland Road.

Blackpool beat Blackburn 2-0, Bolton secured a 2-0 home win against Charlton and Brighton drew 0-0 with Nottingham Forest.
