The Australian Rugby League Commission has cleared up its State of Origin eligibility rule and scrapped the controversial "benefit of the doubt system" for awarding tries.
The ARLC has decided that from next year no player will be eligible to play for New South Wales or Queensland unless he has lived in that state before the age of 13, or unless he is the son of an Origin player.
The rule is not retrospective.
The biggest change to the game itself is in relation to the awarding of tries, following a season of dodgy calls and confusion over the rules.
From next season, referees will make on-field calls in relation to all try-scoring situations, and if in doubt will signal `time out' and refer to the video referee.
