Aces thrash Wizards at Eden Park

The Auckland cricketers have posted their second win of the Plunket Shield competition with a big seven-wicket victory over Canterbury on the final day at Eden Park.

Auckland started the final day on 153 for two chasing 219 for the victory and easily wrapped up the target with the in-form Craig Cachopa hitting 57 and Tim McIntosh an unbeaten 77.

Canterbury were dismissed for 120 in their second innings with Kyle Mills and Bruce Martin both taking five wickets each.

Rain prevented any play on the second day in the capital - Wellington are 73 for four late on day three, the Firebirds are following on after being bowled out for 206 in their first innings, in reply to Northern District's first innings of 403.

And Central Districts were bowled out for 449 in reply to Otago's first innings of 427, also late on day three at the University Oval.
