Black Sticks stars keen to cash in on Indian opportunity

One of the Black Sticks strikers who has been picked up by the new Hockey India League starting next month is hoping a compromise can be reached with the national body that will allow him to play in the lucrative event.

The Hockey Players Association has been negotiating with Hockey NZ on behalf of Nick Wilson and Simon Child over a new deal that would allow the pair's release to play in the new league.

The end of the tournament clashes with a compulsory Black Sticks training camp but Wilson, as a full-time professional, is hoping the national body allow him to take advantage of a great opportunity.

Nick Wilson was the leading highest scorer at the recent elite eight-nation Champions Trophy tournament in Melbourne.
