The man behind the recent ITU World Triathlon Series Grand Final in Auckland has been announced as the new Chief Executive Officer for the 2015 FIFA under-20 men's World Cup, which is being held here.

Dave Beeche will transition into the top job of running the prestigious football tournament - FIFA's second-biggest - from early Februrary while he continues to oversee the first race of the 2013 World Triathlon Series in Auckland in early April.

The tournament involves 24 countries and 52 games and will target about 250,000 spectators around the venues.

One of Beeche's first tasks is to work with FIFA on finalising the various venues for the tournament, which should be completed in February. Nine cities have expressed an interest and there's no word as yet how many venues will be required.
