Phoenix happy with two-year ban for racist remarks

The Wellington Phoenix are satisfied with the two-year A-League ban dished out to an Adelaide United fan for racially abusing Paul Ifill.

Football Federation Australia says the Adelaide man has been banned from attending any A-League match for two years for breaching its Spectator Code of Behaviour during the December 16 match at Hindmarsh Stadium.

Adelaide have also cancelled the man's membership.

Ifill thanked the Adelaide club and police "for acting promptly and professionally in the investigation".

The Phoenix general manager David Dome says he can't remember a similar incident in the A-League.
