McLenaghan turns heads in the Republic

The New Zealand men's cricketers may have lost the Twenty20 series in South Africa but more than a few pundits over in the Republic have been impressed by the tourists' new pace bowler Mitchell McLenaghan.

South African commentator Neil Manthorp took note of McLenaghan, who says nobody over there was surprised by his performances - the left-arm quick took two for 24 off his four overs as the Black Caps lost the series decider by 33 runs Thursday morning at Port Elizabeth.

Manthorp was impressed by McLenaghan when he was in New Zealand for the inbound tour by the Proteas last season and heard about the lanky Aucklander taking an eight-wicket haul on debut in the Plunket Shield four-day competition.

McLenaghan has been named as Tim Southee's replacement for the two-test series, which begins in Cape Town on January the 2nd.
