Australia humiliate Sri Lanka in second cricket test

Australia's humiliated Sri Lanka by an innings and 201 runs in winning the second cricket test in just two and a half days at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

After dismissing Australia for 460, Sri Lanka trailed by 304 runs on the first inninngs but then lost three wickets in the first two overs of their second innings and a fourth less than four overs later to slump to 13 for four.

They folded to be all out for 103 with Kumar Sangakkara having to retire hurt for 27 and two other players unable to bat because of injury.

The result means Australia have an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series, with the final test starting in Sydney on Thursday.

The Australia skipper Michael Clarke says he's particularly pleased by the ruthlessness of the win.

Allrounder Mitchell Johnson, who took wickets and scored an unbeaten 92, was named man of the match.
