Four former tournament champions are on court today as the first round of the ASB women's tennis classic in Auckland begins in earnest.
Greta Arn, Yanina Wickmayer, Eleni Daniilidou and Zheng Jie are all playing, although Arn is playing a final round qualifying match.
Wickmayer from Belgium is the third seed and top ranked player on court today.
The top seeds Agnieszka Radwanska and Julia Goerges as well as New Zealand's Marina Erakovic don't play until their opening singles matches tomorrow.
Although Erakovic and her British partner Heather Watson, do play their opening doubles match.
The two time former grand slam winner Svetlana Kuznetsova is also on court.
Kutznetsova has slumped to 71 in the world rankings having struggled with injury and form over the past year.
She won the last of her grand slam titles at Roland Garros in 2009.
