Plea for transfer money to go to clubs not players

4:04 pm on 1 January 2013

The player transfer window will open tonight in English football's premier league and Newcastle United manager, Alan Pardew, hopes clubs that do makes sales receive the money rather than it given to players and agents.

He says administrators need to make sure the money goes into the right areas like youth teams and infrastructure.

Pardew says he's still hoping striker Demba Ba, who's been linked with a host of teams going into the January transfer window, will stay at the club.

Pardew has accused Ba's agents of giving bad advice to their client as the Senegal striker continues to be linked with a move away from St James' Park.

Chelsea were the latest side to express interest in Ba, with representatives of the 27-year-old reportedly holding talks with the Blues on Sunday but those discussions were later described as unproductive.
