New Zealand wildcard doubles entry loses first round

The New Zealand pairing of Daniel King Turner and Michael Venus have lost their first round doubles match at the Heineken Open tennis tournament in Auckland.

The number one seeds Colin Fleming from Great Britain and Bruno Soares of Brazil combined to win out in three sets after the New Zealand wild card entry won the first set 6-2.

King-Turner opens his singles campaign against Canadian qualifier Jesse Levine. The New Zealander is in on a wildcard.
