The All Whites captain Ryan Nelsen says he's already had several conversations with Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp over severing his ties with the English Premier League football club.

The 35 year old Nelsen has been appointed as manager of United State Major League Soccer side Toronto.

Toronto wants him to take charge for their new season in March but QPR could insist he stays with them until the end of the English season in May, as he's contracted until June.

Nelsen says he's hopeful a compromise can be reached.

He says he is also yet to All Whites coach Ricki Herbert about his international playing future.

Toronto finished bottom of the MLS last season and have gone through eight coaches in the past six seasons.
