TheCentral Coast Mariners coach Graham Arnold has apologised for his comments directed at match officials during his side's 1-all A-League football draw with Melbourne Victory last night.

Arnold admitted the frustration of watching his side torn apart by the Victory in the first half, caused him to say something which officials took offence with.

Arnold was marched from the Aurora Stadium sideline just before halftime, and just after the Victory, who sit at the top of the A-League table, had taken a 1-nil lead.

Arnold has apologised but refused to divulge what the offending comment was.

As well as a $1,000 team fine for a red card, Arnold is also likely to face some form of A-League disciplinary action.

Elsewhere a Ryan Griffiths goal ensured the Newcastle Jets a 1-nil win over an under-performing Brisbane Roar and lifted them back into the top six on the A-League ladder, and Adelaide United beat Perth Glory 3-2.
