Sri Lanka hungry to prove they're competitive

Sri Lanka want to prove they're not intimidated by Australia on their so far bleak winless cricket tour, according to coach Graham Ford.

Ford says his team know they're a better one-day outfit than they showed when hammered by 107 runs in Friday's opening match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

But the coach admits improvement in key areas is needed for today's second one-dayer in Adelaide in the best of five series.

He dismissed the public debate about Australia's so-called second-stringers, saying the tourists didn't underestimate their foe in the MCG loss.
