Olympian Kate McIlroy has won the latest round of the Tri Series just north of Christchurch.
McIlroy won the women's sprint distance race from under 23 elite athlete Rebecca Kingsford and fellow Olympian Andrea Hewitt.
McIlroy went ahead on the bike while Hewitt lost valuable time in a crash.
New Zealand under 23 rep Mike Phillips won the men's race from iron distance expert Bryan Rhodes and age group world champion Hamish Hammond.
