Swimming New Zealand High Performance coach Mark Regan has quit.

The governing body has accepted his resignation with the Board saying they're disappointed Regan resigned on the eve of the arrival of the new High Performance Director, Luis Villanueva.

Regan coaches Lauren Boyle who won a gold and a bronze at the recent world short course champs.

Swimming New Zealand say they'll meet with the swimmers directly affected by Regan's resignation about on-going arrangements for their coaching.

No reason has been given for Regan's departure.
