The Wellington Phoenix had to cop some poor match scheduling last year due to some football World Cup qualifiers, now it's their opposition doing the complaining.
The Phoenix's home A-League match against the Newcastle Jets has been brought forward by almost a month to February the 27th because it clashed with two All Whites World Cup qualifiers - which the Jets claim is unfair because they now have to play three times in 10 days.
But the Phoenix coach Ricki Herbert says it's justice, and they weren't happy playing with eight players out due to the Oceania Nations Cup.
Herbert's commended Football Federation Australia for acting on his club's request to move the game.
The match has been rescheduled due to a clash with the FIFA World Cup Oceania qualifying matches between New Zealand and New Caledonia on Friday March the 22nd, and against the Solomon Islands on Tuesday March the 26th. Striker Benji Totori, who also missed the Phoenix games last year due to his international duty for the Solomons, would have been similarly affected again.
The FIFA World Cup Oceania qualifiers were not confirmed until after the A-League season draw was released.
