Wildcats beat Taipans to stay second

7:11 am on 19 January 2013

The Perth Wildcats 86 have thumped the Cairns Taipans 64 at Perth Arena to consolidate their hold on second place in the Australian National Basketball League.

And Perth have a game in hand on NBL leaders and two-time defending champions, the New Zealand Breakers.

But the Breakers' 82.35 percent, 14 and three winning record is still superior to the Wildcats' 75 percent, 12 and four record.

Also on Friday night, the Melbourne Tigers edged the third-placed Sydney Kings 77-74 thanks to a virtuoso first-half display from star import Jonny Flynn.
