Troubled Guildford steps down from Crusaders franchise

5:58 am on 21 January 2013

The Canterbury Crusaders winger Zac Guildford has voluntarily stood down from the franchise following his involvement in a late-night incident in Christchurch just over a week ago.

23-year-old Guildford, who has had previous problems with alcohol, has admitted his involvement in an incident after a private party.

The NZ Rugby Union's chief executive Steve Tew says they've started misconduct proceedings against Guildford, and they'll have discussions with the 10-test All Black this week.
