Shane Warne fined for captaincy shenanigans

The Melbourne Stars captain Shane Warne has been found guilty and fined five thousand dollars for breaching Cricket Australia's code of behaviour in last week's Big Bash League semi-final loss to the Perth Scorchers.

Warne played in the match but allrounder James Faulkner was officially named as skipper, with Warne under threat of a suspension if the Stars again failed to bowl their allotted overs in time.

This was deemed by Cricket Australia to be against the spirit of cricket after it had told all teams that if a side's official captain plays but isn't named as the captain there may be a code of behaviour charge.

Warne had previously been issued with one strike for a slow over-rate violation, with a second strike this season resulting in an automatic one-match ban.
