The New Zealand Rugby Union and the Players' association is backing troubled Crusaders winger Zac Guildford, for now.
The NZRU has announced that Guildford has been withdrawn indefinitely from Super Rugby to undertake an intensive treatment programme to address his on-going personal issues.
Guildford stood down from the squad a week ago following another alcohol-fuelled incident.
NZRU Chief Executive Steve Tew says they're working with the Players' Association and Guildford's Manager to ensure that he gets the professional help he needs and is held accountable for his actions.
Tew says Guildford's withdrawal from the Crusaders means they are able to concentrate on preparing for the season, while the former All Black will be free from rugby to concentrate on resolving his personal issues.
He says they'll address the issue of misconduct at the appropriate time.
New Zealand Rugby Players Association CEO Rob Nichol says they've taken the advice of experts and Guildford is committed to the plan which includes withdrawing from the rugby environment.
