Allrounder Jesse Ryder has confirmed to Black Caps cricket coach Mike Hesson he's unavailable for the upcoming series against England.

Hesson met with Ryder in Wellington today to discuss Ryder's possible return to the national side.

Black Caps manager Mike Sandle says Ryder's plans were thoroughly discussed and it was agreed he would keep playing for Wellington in the four day Plunket Shield competition.

Sandle says New Zealand Cricket is happy with the positive progress Ryder is making and supports his decision to focus on his personal goals rather than playing for the Black Caps.

Ryder is also available for the IPL competition in India and will be among the players on the auction list for February 3rd.

Only three New Zealand players have confirmed IPL contracts at present, Brendon McCullum, Ross Taylor and James Franklin.
