Italy topple France in Rome

Italy blasted the Six Nations Rugby Championship wide open this morning with a 23-18 upset over France in Rome's Olympic stadium.

The perennial wooden spooners repeated their victory over France two seasons ago, scoring two tries and landing a perfect five goals against the 2011 World Cup finalists.

Italy's first five Luciano Orquera had an outstanding all-round game and was named man of the match.

Italy joined England and Ireland on top of the table.

Ireland upset the holders Wales yesterday 30-22.
