South Africa tops all test rankings

Updated at 5:38 am on 6 February 2013

The Australia captain Michael Clarke has been usurped as the No.1 ranked batsman in test cricket by the prolific South African Hashim Amla.

Amla's elevation gives South Africa a clean sweep of the test rankings.

Fast bowler Dale Steyn strengthened his lead at the top of the bowling list after claiming 11-60 in South Africa's first test win over Pakistan, while Jacques Kallis remains the game's leading allrounder.

Amla's promotion to the No.1 test ranking makes him the first batsman since former Australia captain Ricky Ponting in 2007 to top both the test and one-day batting list at the same time.

Ross Taylor's the higest ranked New Zealand batsman at eight.

Veteran Chris Martin is the best ranked bowler Black Caps bowler at 17, while Dan Vettori is fifth on the allrounders list.
