PNG blasts their way through Asia-Pacific cricket tournament

It may not be a first class record but Papua New Guinea had the scorers working overtime in their east Asia-Pacific T20 cricket championship match in Auckland yesterday.

PNG scored 267 for 2 in their 20 overs against Indonesia, with Assad Valla hitting and unbeaten 157.

The winner of the EAP Championship will advance to a a qualifying tournament in Dubai, which will fill the final place at next year's T20 World Cup in Bangladesh.

The highest team score in the top flight is 260 for 6 by Sri Lanka, while Brendon McCullum has the highest individual score of 123.
