Leonard out for six weeks

5:38 am on 6 February 2013

The Chiefs and former All Blacks halfback Brendon Leonard will miss at least the first three games of this season's Super Rugby competition, after suffering a fractured cheek bone in a pre-season match against the Highlanders.

Coach Dave Rennie says Leonard has had surgery and is expected to be able to play again in six weeks.

The competition doesn't begin for the New Zealand sides for another two and a half weeks.
