The Australian rules football club the Essendon Bombers is under investigation by anti-doping authorities for supplements that may contain banned substances.
The Bombers rasied concerns about the supplements taken by its players last season and the football league referred the matter to Australia's anti-doping agency.
The coach of Essenden, James Hird, says he's shocked and dissapointed by the investigation.
Hird says to his knowledge the supplements were approved and that the club and its players have done nothing wrong.
Other AFL clubs Gold Coast and Geelong say they are cooperating with investigators after confirming they previously employed individuals involved with the Bombers' fitness program.
The National Rugby League Club Manly has also confirmed it previously employed the sports scientist Stephen Dank who left Essendon mid-way through last season.
