NZ XI beats England in T20 warmup match

A solid top order batting effort got the New Zealand XI home by three wickets off the last ball of their T20 cricket match against England in Whangarei on Wednesday night.

England scored 170 for five off their 20 overs with Eion Morgan and Jos Buttle both making 51. Neil Wagner and Andrew Ellis took two wickets each.

Hamish Rutherford made 30 and Anton Devcich 33, before Tom Latham hit 64 off 38 balls to keep the home side up with the run-rate.

After losing a few wickets, bowlers Matt Henry and Andrew Ellis guided the New Zealanders home in the final over.

England will play New Zealand in the first of three Twenty20 internationals at Eden Park on Saturday night.
