Netball Australia says they're not included in crime report

11:30 am on 8 February 2013

Netball Australia, in conjunction with the ANZ Championship, says it can confirm that no athlete, team, or high performance staff member is implicated in the Australian Crime Commission's investigations.

The Crime Commission says illicit drug use by professional athletes is more prevalent than has been indicated by sports drugs testing programmes and includes National Rugby League clubs.

Netball Australia's CEO Kate Palmer says she's alarmed by the report but congratulates the Australian Government and agencies for their swift action and commitment to protect the integrity of sport.

Netball Australia accepts that it is not immune and must remain vigilant in the fight against illicit drugs in sport, match-fixing and links to organised crime.
