PGA championship leaves Coolum

The PGA of Australia has split with Queensland's Coolum Resort following a number of skirmishes with its billionaire owner Clive Palmer during the Australian PGA Championship two months ago.

The PGA has confirmed that after 11 years on the Australian PGA circuit, the Sunshine Coast course won't be a stop on this year's tour, and the likely venue for the PGA championship will be Hope Island, a links-type course designed by Peter Thomson on Queensland's Gold Coast.
