Kahui will be sorely missed by Chiefs

The Chiefs coach Dave Rennie says he's bitterly disappointed he'll be losing the experienced outside back Richard Kahui after the Super Rugby season.

Kahui, who has played 17 tests, has decided to take up a 2-year deal with Japanese club Toshiba.

The world cup winner whose now had three shoulder reconstructions says with his history of injuries the Japanese offer was an opportunity he had to take up while he could.

Rennie says while Kahui has to do what's best for his family, the 27-year-old is a quality player and a big part of the Chief's leadership group who's absence will be felt next season.

Rennie says it's not just what Kahui offers the Super Rugby champions on the field which will be missed.

He says even though Kahui was injured midway through last season he was still a massive contributor to the team's success through his analysis of the opposition.
