Wood scores again in losing effort for Foxes

The All Whites striker Chris Wood has scored again for Leicester City in their 2-1 home loss to Londoners Charlton Athletic in England's second-tier Football League Championship.

Wood scored his 17th Championship goal of the season and eighth for Leicester to equalise in the 69th minute, but it wasn't enough for the Foxes as they lost for the first time at King Power Stadium this year.

Leicester remain in the playoff places in fifth, a big 14 points behind leaders Cardiff City.

But the Welsh side's shock home loss to Bristol City on Tuesday, as well as having played a game more than Leicester, keeps Woods' side well in the hunt for automatic promotion.

Second-placed Hull City are five points behind Cardiff after their 2-0 win over Blackburn Rovers, but Hull - like the third- and fourth-placed teams - have played two more games than Leicester.

Wood is fourth equal in the race for the Championship golden boot for top goalscorer, his 17 finishes putting him level with Blackpool's Thomas Ince.

Crystal Palace striker Glenn Murray is top with 27.
