England cricketers substantially underpaid

The England cricketers could be in for a pay-rise if discussion in the media is anything to go by.

The chief executive of the Professional Cricketers' Association Angus Porter has said that England's players are "substantially underpaid".

England's centrally contracted players are understood to be on retainers of between $450,000 and $730,000, whereas Australia's top players earn well over $1 million.

Porter is doing his best to help his members who generally are unavailable for the lucrative Indian Premier League.

The England players are believed to want more say in the scheduling of England matches.

The top New Zealand retainer is understood to be around $200,000.
