Central Districts has been declared the winner of the 2012-13 Plunket Shield after the runner up Otago lost to Wellington in the final round at the Basin Reserve.
Heading into the last round Otago and Central were the only two teams left in contention for the Shield, with both needing an outright victory to claim the title.
Otago was set 200 runs to win by Wellington in their second innings, but the Southerners were dismissed for 145.
Central could only manage a draw in their match against Northern Districts at Nelson, but that was enough to secure the title.
