Half A-League coaches gone this season

12:37 pm on 27 February 2013

For the first time in A-League football history, half of the coaches who began the season at the helm are gone.

When Ricki Herbert resigned as Wellington Phoenix coach on Monday he became the fifth coach of the 10 who started to step down, as a lift in standard in what's been the most exciting season to date appears to be taking its toll.

Herbert, the A-League's longest-serving coach, had been in the job for six years as the club's foundation coach.

Assistant coach Chris Greenacre will manage the side for the rest of the season, and his immediate assignment is tonight's home game against the Newcastle Jets.
