Steve Waugh says rest Nathan Lyon

Theformer test skipper Steve Waugh says Australia should look hard at giving Nathan Lyon a rest from the second cricket Test after the offspinner's mauling at the hands of India's batsmen in Chennai.

Lyon returned figures of three for 215 from 47 overs and one for 29 from five and a half overs in the first test which ended Wednesday as India claimed a comfortable eight-wicket win with more than two sessions to spare.

Australia have been criticised for not including left-arm slow bowler Xavier Doherty in a two-pronged spin attack for the crumbling pitch in Chennai, especially as the home side picked three spinners who claimed 20 wickets and India's pace bowlers made not a single breakthrough.

Waugh says Australia might want to make a few changes for Saturday's second test of the four-match series in Hyderabad and says Lyon, who has been impressive, looks fatigued.
