SBW contract still not finalised by NRL

New Sydney Roosters recruit Sonny Bill Williams has yet to have his contract registered, putting his starting debut against South Sydney next week in doubt.

Fairfax is reporting that Williams's one-year deal with the Roosters is yet to be ratified by NRL salary cap auditor Ian Schubert.

The National Rugby League confirmed more information was needed to bed the deal down.

Clubs have until Friday to lodge signed statutory declarations that they comply with the salary cap.

Williams hasn't played in the NRL for five years, playing rugby union in France and New Zealand during that time.

Roosters boss Brian Canavan believes the issue will be sorted in the coming days.
