World golf number one and defending champion Rory McIlroy walked off the course and withdrew from the Honda Classic in Florida after dropping seven shots in the first eight holes of his second round while suffering with severe pain from a wisdom tooth.

McIlroy says it has been very painful and he was unable to concentrate.

The PGA Tour said it was the first time the Northern Irishman had withdrawn from a tournament.
