Back-to-back PGA titles for Hendry

Michael Hendry consolidated his position as New Zealand's top-ranked golfer by successfully defending his New Zealand PGA title in a thrilling finish yesterday at the Hills course in Arrowtown.

Hendry made the perfect start picking up shots at his first three holes on the final day, but he was taken to a playoff by the Australian Scott Strange before making it back-to-back titles on the first extra hole.

Hendry and Strange had the finish to themselves, ending up four strokes clear of another two more home players Gareth Paddison and Josh Geary, and Jared Pender and Steven Alker tied for 8th, making it six New Zealanders in the top-10.

Hendry is on his way to Florida for this week's 10.5 million dollar World Golf Championship event with an exclusive field of 60, including 49 of the world's top-50 ranked players.
