Red Star players in poor queues

In contrast to the fabulous riches on offer in a number of European countries, players at the debt-ridden former European Cup winners Red Star Belgrade are so poorly off they're unable to pay for food and rent.

Red Star's under-fire coach Aleksandar Jankovic, who's struggling to hold onto his job, has revealed that first team players have received only three minimum wage payments of about 600 euros each since November.

The club's debts are estimated to be more than 50 million euros, a vast sum in Serbia's dilapidated football structure which is almost entirely dependent on exporting talent to wealthier European rivals.
