The Spanish football giants Real Madrid have beaten Manchester United 2-1 at Old Trafford to move into the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

The tie was level at 1-1 heading into the second leg and United went ahead early in the second half with an own goal.

But the tide turned when they had Nani sent off, the debatable red card for a dangerous challenge coming when it was clear Nani didn't see the approaching player he kicked, the Portugese with eyes only on the high ball.

Former Spurs star Luka Modric then scored for the visitors and former United star Cristiano Ronaldo sealed the tie a couple of minutes later.

In the day's other match Borussia Dortmund beat Shakhtar Donetsk 3-2 to go through 5-2 on aggregate.
