Queen's Baton to visit New Zealand later this year

New Zealand will be a part of the Queen's Baton relay route ahead of the next Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

The 190,000-kilometre relay will travel to 71 nations and territories in seven months before arriving in Scotland.

The baton, whose design has not yet been revealed, will leave from Buckingham Palace on October 9th this year.

The baton will be in New Zealand for five days from November 27th, including St Andrews Day.

The relay is designed to unite the two billion citizens of the Commonwealth in a celebration of sport, diversity and peace.

The Glasgow Commonwealth Games start on July 23rd 2014.
