Hudson held back for playoffs duty

The New Zealand Breakers centre Will Hudson won't suit up for the Australian basketball champions in Perth on Friday, despite training with the team for the first time since injuring his knee more than a month ago.

The team's medical staff had hoped to get the American import some game time against their arch-rivals in the final regular season game, with the playoffs just around the corner.

But Hudson won't travel to Perth now, instead staying back in Auckland to get in some intensive training, and he should be fit to come off the bench in the first semi-final tomorrow week at Vector Arena, against the Breakers' as-yet undetermined opponents.

The Breakers forward Mika Vukona is over the ankle injury that took him out of last week's home win against the Melbourne Tigers.
