The Blues coach John Kirwan says the loss to the Bulls before last weekend's bye influenced his selections for Sunday's Super Rugby clash with the Waratahs in Sydney.

After rolling the changes and losing to the Bulls, Kirwan has reverted to tried and tested combinations that saw them win their opening two rounds of the competition.

Chris Noakes takes the reigns at first five-eighths, while George Moala, Peter Saili, Culum Retallick, James Parsons and Tom McCartney all return to the starting fifteen.

On the bench, Anthony Boric is poised to make his first appearance in more than a year after surgery , while halfback Jamison Gibson-Park maintains his position in the 22 in place of Bryn Hall.
