The Highlanders coach Jamie Joseph says luck was against his team as they lost to the Chiefs 19-7 in Hamilton, their fourth straight defeat of the season.
Both teams scored a try, but four penalties from the boot of Gareth Anscombe gave the Chiefs their fourth victory from five starts this season.
Joseph praised the Chiefs for their defense on the goal line.
