Different approach pays dividends for Warriors

Not getting too caught up in the technical aspects of their game plan has paid dividends for the Warriors, who've broken an 11- game losing streak to chalk up their first win of the National Rugby League season.

The Warriors beat the North Queensland Cowboys 20-18 in Auckland on Monday.

The win was new coach Matt Elliott's first with the side, with the Warriors having lost all three of their games this seaon on the back of an eight match losing streak which rounded out last season.

They came from 12-0 down and after the match Elliott indicated he changed his approach somewhat in the lead up to the game and tried to simplify things.

After four rounds, which include their bye, the Warriors are mid-table, four points behind the only unbeaten side Penrith.
