The new Indian Premier League season has been opened with a glittering opening ceremony at Kolkata's Salt Lake Stadium.
The billion dollar tournament gets underway tonight with the defending champion Kolkata Knight Riders, minus Brendon McCullum, taking on the Delhi Daredevils, who will be without Jesse Ryder.
The 9-team tournament, picked up a new 85 million dollar sponsor this year and has again, attracted the cream of the world's players for the 7 week tournament.
McCullum will miss tonight's match and possibly Kolkata's next few as he is still recovering from a hamstring injury he suffered in the last Test against England.
