Despite not having ridden her bike for the past five months the BMX Olympic silver medalist Sarah Walker has been included in the New Zealand team to compete at the world champs.

Walker's endured a long injury lay off after dislocating her shoulder just before the London Olympics but opted to potpone surgery until after the Games.

The operation was five months ago and she's only just returned to training and concedes the time out could affect her performance at the World Champs in Auckland in July.

However she believes it was the best thing to do as she considers her long term goal the Rio Olympics in 2016.
